• The MTHFR enzyme is the rate limiting factor for converting synthetic folic acid or folinic acid to the active form of folate.
• Oral doses of L-methylfolate become immediately to the cell and are used to convert homocysteine to methionine. Only reduced folates are functional and essential for the DNA biosynthesis cycle.
